Information for Higher Semesters

Practical Year (PJ):
The Practical Year (PJ) is the final stage of the model medical curriculum and comprises the 11th and 12th semesters. During the Practical Year, students work full-time as trainees in clinical patient care. After completing the Practical Year, the final examination before medical licensure (Approbation) takes place in the form of an oral state exam. The Practical Year consists of three rotations (“tertials”), each lasting 16 weeks, for a total of approximately 11 months. Two tertials are mandatory (Surgery and Internal Medicine), while the third tertial can be chosen freely according to the student’s preferences. Further important information can be found via the following links.
